Student Advisors
As you enter CIP, you will be assigned a CIP Student Advisor, (a staff member who is the ongoing contact person at CIP for you and your family). The role of the Advisor is to be a case manager and advisor for you.
The Advisor is the conduit through which your academic, internship, and residential progress at CIP is communicated with your family on a bi-weekly basis.
The coordination of this information is a way to keep families informed and involved in the student’s development at CIP.
The Student Advisor (SA) helps the student in various ways:
- Coordinating schedules
- Setting appointments
- Helping students set short and long-term goals
- Coordinating their program plan and dealing with day-to-day problems
- Communication on important issues with parents
- Student banking
- Development of self-advocacy skills
- Inter-Departmental Liaison
The SA also oversees the student’s path of progress, and is responsible for coordinating periodic progress reports and maintaining communication with other departments and your family.
