Internship Program
Career Support Services
As a student at CIP, you will have the opportunity to enhance your vocational skills through vocational skills training and internship placement. Our vocational curriculum through our in-house classes at CIP provides instruction in the following for those with Asperger's and Learning Differences.
- Self-presentation
- Communication skills
- Defining your interests
- Value clarification questionnaires
- Skill assessments
- Career exploration
We investigate the interview process, videotape mock employment interviews and provide feedback.
Internship placement will be an important part of your experience here at CIP. Staff will provide guidance and support in assisting to match your interest and abilities, and in finding an appropriate internship site.
For those students whose focus is college academics, they participate in an internship of a few hours per week. For those whose primary focus will place them on a vocational track, they will be involved in a more extensive internship in their first year, with possible paid positions thereafter.
As a student with an internship you will also gain from meeting with other internship students for discussion and skill development. This group will discuss various topics and share their experiences, areas for improvement and what they have learned about themselves during the internship process.
As a student with an internship, you will be expected to perform as a responsible employee. Vocational Service Agencies are available that can provide in depth vocational assessment and assistance in job search, job placement and job coaching.
Community Service at CIP offers you the challenge to see yourself as a citizen of the world. By contributing to the community, you will learn to serve others and also learn about yourself.
Helping others can help you find out what direction you want to pursue vocationally. There are a variety of community service sites to choose form and you are required to work in community service.
